Today we ventured to the beautiful Cape St. Vincent, the southern most point of Europe! Travelers had the opportunity to visit the lighthouse here and admire the stunning views.

Next on our journey was a visit to the Sagres Fortress an unusual fort with one single fortified wall and three cliffs providing a natural defense. The Sagres area is most associated with Henry the Navigator who started a navigational school in the area and the point from which so many Portugese expeditions departed from. After time to explore the fortress, which included a compass rose and the Nossa Senhora da Graca Church dating back to 1579 (pictured), we had free time in the quaint town of Lagos which is a 45 minute drive from our hotel. In Lagos, alums strolled the city streets to shop and get lunch.

The Algarve Region, the resort living hot-spot, is known for its white-sand beaches, dramatic coastline and small towns, so many travelers were happy to come back to the hotel and enjoy the rest of the afternoon and evening at the hotel, located right on the beach (pictured).
